Rooted in purpose: "I began my medical journey in 1996 working in the OR on orthopedic and open-heart surgeries. I later fell in love with family practice, where caring for whole families made medicine feel deeply personal. After a breast cancer diagnosis forced me to close my practice, I found my new purpose as a professor and director of nursing. Medicine has always been more than a career to me, and I’ve stayed connected to it in every chapter of life."
The best is yet to come: "I love connecting with people, sharing my experiences with obesity, weight loss surgery, and menopause, and learning from theirs. Now, I'm in my 60s, and I love it. It's the best time of life. Even in a world that tends to undervalue women as they age, I still have more to offer, and I’m here to help other women rediscover that in themselves."
Care with intention: "It’s an honor when patients come to me for insight and support. As providers, we have the opportunity to influence not just individuals, but generations, and I never take that lightly. That impact starts with listening. Without truly listening, we might as well be following an algorithm, and patients deserve better."
