Addressing the whole person: “I’ve been a nurse practitioner for 15 years after graduating from Vanderbilt in 2009. My journey led me through various roles in family and psychiatric care in federally qualified women’s health centers. I firmly believe in care for the whole person, not just symptoms, in order to address root causes. That’s why, in 2018, I went back to school for my psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification, and I am currently pursuing a holistic nurse practitioner board certification.”Providing the care I wish I had: “I never felt like I was listened to by my doctors when I was younger. As a clinician, I always want to listen to and advocate for my patients, delivering compassionate care. My hope is that when a patient finishes their visit with me, they feel empowered, every question has been answered, and that they have a part to play in their own health care.”Celebrating diversity, fostering unity: “One valuable lesson that I’ve learned while caring for women is that no two are the same. And, although we have vast differences in how we were raised or our day to day experiences, we do have common threads that bind us together. I think that that’s very important.”
